For months I’ve been perplexed as to what to do with the empty wall behind the couch in our living room. I didn’t know whether to put up floating shelves, one large canvas photo from our travels or some wall decor. It was a topic that constantly came up when I spoke to my best friend, who has a knack for decorating. With her help, I narrowed down my options to one of two things; a large abstract painting or creating a photo wall. Each one has its pros; a panting is much simpler however a photo wall would give me the opportunity to display some of my photography. I’m happy to say that I’ve finally come to a decision! I’ve decided to do a photo wall! I know it won’t be the simplest design task, but I’m prepared! I think the most difficult part will be deciding on the layout and making sure the different sized frames fit well together. Here are some photos I’m using as inspiration!

I love a good photo wall! We’ve been planning to do something similar for the wall on our staircase. It’s hard collecting all the frames and stuff… I think so far we have 2. Haha. 🙂

I love photo walls that are done along a staircase! Finding the right frames is so tricky! Good luck finding some more, I can’t wait to see the finished product! xo

I definitely will! Hopefully it doesn’t take me forever to gather all the frames and choose which photos I want to use lol.

I love wall galleries so much! My favorite is when they’re not so structured and include other elements like wooden letters, etc. Something to make the wall a bit more 3D. These inspiration pictures are gorgeous!

Aren’t they amazing?! They definitely have an eclectic vibe when objects and different shaped and colored frames are incorporated. I’m not sure if I’m going to go in that direction or keep it more simplistic with similar shaped frames with black and white pictures. We have a black leather couch and our color theme is quite subdued with browns and creams. Our walls are a light beige so I’m not sure what would look the best in the space – I still need to figure that out 🙂

This is clever. I have a wish to have a wall which is a chalk board in my future home – failing that I wish for something just like this.

Chalkboard walls are so fun! I’d love to do one too but in our current space, it just wouldn’t suit the rest of our decor.

I love photo galleries. We actually purchased a starter-kit from Bed Bath and Beyond a while back and I can’t wait to add more photos to have a fuller look like the ones you have pictured!

I completely agree, they’re such a great way to display some of your favorite pictures and memories! A starter kit seems like a great base to build off of and would be much simpler than trying to map out the placement of the photos on your own. Some of the ones I posted photos of (especially the ones from Pottery Barn) are quite complex, so it’s nice you have something to build from already. Thanks for the comment!

I really love the look of the second and third ones! Since moving in with my boyfriend, I’ve been stumped on how to decorate our bedroom wall and I decided that a photo wall of pictures of us/the places we’ve been together would be perfect. I can’t wait to see how your photo wall turns out, thanks for inspiring my project with these pics too 🙂

I hate when you’re stuck trying to figure out what to do with an empty wall! I think a photo wall would look fabulous in your bedroom. I really like the concept because you get to have a bunch of your favorite photos of you two and places that hold special memories, instead of having to pick just one, if you were just going to do a traditional canvas print. I’ll be sure to blog about my wall once it’s completed! Good luck with yours, I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product! xo
